Moxy Hotel is a stylish 4-star, 224-bedroom hotel located within Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, situated alongside the Genting Arena and Resorts World shopping and leisure complex, and close to Birmingham International Airport. The site is also at the heart of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s development zone, UK Central, set to accommodate the new High Speed Rail’s Central Interchange.

Moxy is Marriott International’s fresh, innovative, millennial-focused global brand, offering fun, vibrant, stylish, and affordable hotels. The hotel, which offers affordable accommodation over eight floors, was constructed by Clark Contracts, as part of the £150m Resorts World development, with work commencing in August 2018 and completed in January 2020.

A pioneering construction technique was used to maximise the build speed, increase quality, and improve site safety. This involved modular cross-laminated timber pods, manufactured in Italy, transported in sections, and assembled on site. Central Fabrications was involved with the project from July to January 2020, supplying aluminium flashings, capping’s, corners, gutters and rainwater accessories for the roof and canopy.

Orry White said: “We’ve used Central Fabrication products before and had absolute confidence in their ability to meet the project’s sustainability and building criteria. They were available on time, completed work to budget and successfully met all our
our requirements.”

John Hornby, NEC Group’s Chief Operating Officer, comments: “The new hotel is an excellent addition to our site’s profile and complements the existing range of hotels on site. As well as adding much-needed room capacity, it brings a fresh and vibrant ambience and experience for the six million visitors and guest attending the NEC each year.”

Crowngate Shopping Centre

Central Fabrications was involved in the £1.5 million renovation of Crowngate’s Angel Place entrance on Friary Walk, supplying fabricated and bespoke products to main contractor, adi Building and Refurbishment.
